\u201cThen Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, \u2018Thus far the Lord has helped us.\u2019\u201d<\/strong> In the Old Testament, God\u2019s people often gave Him names that reflected their personal encounters with His power and provision\u2014names like Jehovah Jireh<\/em> (\u201cThe Lord will provide\u201d) from Abraham. In a similar way, Samuel named a stone Ebenezer<\/em> (\u201cStone of Help\u201d) after a decisive victory in Israel\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1 Samuel 7, under Samuel\u2019s leadership, Israel experienced a deep spiritual revival. They turned from idols, renewed their devotion to the Lord, and began to see His hand at work again. Yet in the middle of this renewal, the Philistines attacked. This could have been a devastating setback\u2014but God intervened with a mighty display of power. He sent thunder from heaven that threw the Philistines into confusion, allowing Israel to defeat them completely (1 Samuel 7:10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n To commemorate this miraculous help, Samuel set up a stone where the victory took place and named it Ebenezer<\/em>. From that day on, whenever the Israelites saw that stone, they were reminded of the Lord\u2019s faithfulness, protection, and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, we don\u2019t look for Samuel\u2019s stone to remind us of God\u2019s help\u2014we look to the cross. Christ\u2019s sacrifice is our ultimate Ebenezer<\/em>, the eternal reminder that God has already won the greatest victory for us. Through His death and resurrection, we have triumphed over sin, death, and the powers of darkness. If He has done that for us, we can be sure He will help us in every battle we face today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So when life feels overwhelming, look to Christ. Remember your Ebenezer<\/em>.
