Gratifying the desires of the flesh is one of Satan\u2019s most subtle traps. His goal is to make you a slave to your own passions. Please don\u2019t fall for it. Each time you indulge the flesh, its grip on you tightens, and soon, you may find yourself living under its control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the same way, yielding to the influence of the Spirit gradually draws you into a life of righteousness. What may seem like a small compromise at first can quickly become a pattern that enslaves you. The choice you make daily (to obey the flesh or the Spirit) determines the direction of your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The difference between a believer and an unbeliever lies in this power of choice. The unbeliever has no strength to resist sin and must live by the dictates of the flesh. But the believer, having received the Spirit of God, now has the power to say no to sin and live in victory. Paul affirms this truth in Romans 6 when he says that sin shall not have dominion over us because we are under grace. God\u2019s grace doesn\u2019t excuse sin; it empowers us to overcome it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore, when a believer is being dominated by sinful desires, it is not because sin has authority, but because permission has been given. The Bible says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
\u2014 Romans 6:12\u201313 (KJV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You now have the freedom to choose whom you will serve. If you yield to the Spirit, you become a servant of righteousness. If you yield to the flesh, you become its slave. Every \u201csmall\u201d compromise is a seed of bondage. Remember, every act of sin promises pleasure but delivers slavery. Don\u2019t take the bait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
