“For through him [Christ Jesus] we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”<\/strong> In the Old Testament, only the earthly high priest had access to the inner court of the temple (the Most Holy Place), and he could enter only once a year, making sacrifices for himself and for the people. It was a risky business because if the priest was found unclean, he would die right there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place. When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning.”<\/strong> The writer of Hebrews explains that the fact that only the high priest could enter once a year was proof that man didn\u2019t yet have access to the Most Holy Place\u2014that is, the presence of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, that is no longer the case. Scripture tells us that Jesus (who is our heavenly High Priest) has given us access to the Father through His sacrifice on the Cross. Hallelujah! When Jesus died on the Cross, the symbolism was displayed in that the veil into the Most Holy Place was torn from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51<\/strong>). This spiritually signified the opening of the Most Holy Place, marking our access to God the Father through Christ\u2019s sacrifice. Glory to God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n “But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.”<\/strong> I have access to God the Father by Christ Jesus. I have confidence in His presence. I will go boldly to the throne of grace.
