{"id":875,"date":"2025-04-13T05:36:39","date_gmt":"2025-04-13T05:36:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newcreationcity.org\/?p=875"},"modified":"2025-04-13T05:36:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-13T05:36:49","slug":"worldliness-lust-of-the-flesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newcreationcity.org\/?p=875","title":{"rendered":"Worldliness: Lust of the Flesh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discipleship Devotional, April 13th, 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.<\/strong><br>\u2013 <em>1st John 2:16 (KJV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A worldly person is either one who is not in Christ, or one who is but is given to the love of the world. And in the preceding verse in our anchor passage, the Apostle John admonished the saints to &#8220;love not the world.&#8221; He went on to define the components of worldliness, highlighting three main issues, as can be seen in our anchor text. For today, we will look at the first, which is &#8220;the lust of the flesh.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lust of the flesh talks about the cravings and desires of our human nature. As believers, we are not subject to the power of the flesh because Christ has given us His new nature of righteousness. We are admonished to yield ourselves to that new nature rather than the old nature. A believer is said to be worldly when they are living according to the dictates of the flesh. We must rather, through the Spirit, mortify (put to death) the deeds of the flesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Apostle Paul gives us the solution in the book of Galatians:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.<\/strong><br>\u2013 <em>Galatians 5:16 (KJV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So as believers, we must remember that worldliness is anything that tries to promote the lust of the flesh in us. So we must always be watchful and mindful of this.
