Discipleship Devotional, May 30th, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
\u2014 2 Timothy 2:4-5 (KJV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bible teaches us that as believers, we are not just civilians but soldiers of Christ. We are engaged in a spiritual battle between light and darkness, and as such, we must not adopt a civilian mindset. Unfortunately, many in the church today fail to recognize this identity. Instead of seeing themselves as soldiers, they often view Christ merely as a means to satisfy their personal needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This battle has largely been left to church leaders, ministers, and a few committed believers, but this is not how it should be. Every believer is called to fight the good fight of faith. Throughout the Scriptures, believers are described as soldiers of Christ, engaged in a spiritual conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our adversary, the devil, constantly seeks to devour those who are unprepared. This is why Scripture commands us to put on the full armor of God and resist him with steadfast faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
\u2014 1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must never be ignorant of the spiritual warfare we are involved in. Whether we like it or not, the battle is ongoing, and we must be strong in the Lord to avoid becoming casualties. More importantly, we must equip ourselves with the full armor of God so that we may stand victorious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One reason many believers are more accustomed to a civilian mindset, rather than being serious in their Christian walk, is the absence of strong persecution in their lives. But we shouldn’t wait for persecution to remind us of our true identity as soldiers. We are soldiers of Christ, not civilians, and we must remain vigilant and ready for the spiritual battles we face daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to walk carefully, knowing that I do not wrestle against flesh and blood but stand as a soldier in Your army. Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
