Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth to all generations.
– Psalm 100:4-5 (KJV)
As believers, the more conscious we are of the mercy of God, the more thanksgiving will flow from our hearts and mouths. David tells us that one of the reasons for always being thankful and full of praise is because the Lord’s mercy endures forever. In this new year, I urge you to enter His gates with thanksgiving. Start each season with thanksgiving. Thank the Lord for all He has done for you, all He is doing that you may not see, and all He will do for you.
No matter what you are going through, the fact that you are still alive is an indication that God still has a plan for you, and that alone is enough to be thankful. God has not given up on you. No matter the trials or troubles you are facing, always thank God for the good you can see. This is why the saying goes that “it is those who do not think deeply that become unthankful.” If you reflect deeply, you will always find reasons to be full of praise and thanksgiving, regardless of the situation. In fact, when you maintain an attitude of thankfulness, you will continually frustrate the devil.
If you still think you have nothing to thank God for, then thank Him for the most important thing: the salvation He provided for us in Christ Jesus. Thank Him for the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Thank Him for sending His Holy Spirit to dwell within us. Thank Him for not allowing us to die in our sins. Sing unto the Lord today with all these in mind and thank Him for His mercy.
Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
– Psalm 147:7 (KJV)
With this in mind, I urge you today to take out time and thank God for this new month. Thank Him for this second half of the year. Thank Him for all He is set to do in this month. Sing songs of praise and thanksgiving to Him. If possible, dance in your room before Him because He has done great and mighty things.
PRAYER
Thank You, Lord, for the privilege to be alive today. Thank You for all You have done for me in Christ Jesus.
