Discipleship Devotional, January 26th, 2025
Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
– Exodus 33:15-16 (NIV)
In our focal passage, we are reminded of the immense significance of God’s presence. Moses fervently expressed to God that he would not venture anywhere without His presence. This lesson holds true for our daily lives as well – the presence of God makes all the difference. Moses emphasized how God’s presence distinguishes us from the rest of the world. Uncertain, he earnestly prayed for this assurance.
Yet, as believers today, we are already blessed with the promise of His presence. Before the Lord Jesus ascended, He said to His disciples:
And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
– Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)
I love the fact that He didn’t say, “I will be with you.” He gave us even more assurance by saying, “I am with you always.” We can be sure that through the darkest nights and the toughest days, He is with us. He has given us the promise of His presence, which is fulfilled by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit today. So, it’s not just that He is with us; He is also in us, much closer than ever, right in our hearts. We need not fear anything, for He has said He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
– Hebrews 13:5-6 (KJV)
Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the assurance of Your presence with us today.
