God Is Able to Keep You from Falling

Discipleship Devotional, March 1st, 2025

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”
– Jude 1:24 (KJV)

When we place our faith in Christ, He does not leave us alone in our journey on this earth. He guides us, keeps us, and helps us to stand firm in Him. Our anchor text reminds us that God is more than able to keep us from falling—if we trust Him to do so. Even when we are not strong enough to withstand the temptations of this world, God is ever-present, ready to help us stand firm.

There are times when we know that, if it were by our own strength, we would not be able to overcome certain temptations. But God is faithful, and He orchestrates a way of escape for us. However, this does not apply to a situation where a believer deliberately resists the Spirit’s promptings and seeks to fall into sin. In such a case, the person will get what they desire.

This is especially true when we call on Him in prayer, asking for His grace and mercy to help us. In Romans 14:4, Paul expresses a similar thought, stating that before God, a servant stands or falls—but God is able to make him stand.

“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.”
– Romans 14:4 (KJV)

The purpose of today’s devotional is to encourage us to trust in our Redeemer and Savior. He looks out for us, He guides us, and He is always there to help us stand strong.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for all the times You have kept me from falling. Help me, Father, to build strength in You, to grow in You, and to stand firm in You. Amen.
