Discipleship Devotional, March 24th, 2025
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.”
— Psalm 103:2-4 (KJV)
The human heart can be deceptive and forgetful, especially when it comes to remembering the good things God has done for us. Too often, we fervently pray for something, and once we receive it, we quickly shift our focus to the blessing rather than the One who gave it. Today’s devotional serves as a reminder: do not forget God’s benefits. We must guard our hearts against forgetting all that He has done for us.
There are many who once prayed for a breakthrough, and when it finally came, they drifted away from God. They became absorbed in their success, stopped attending church, and neglected prayer. Some even begin to look down on others who remain devoted to God, considering them “overly religious.” This is a perilous state to be in.
Moses warned the Israelites of this very danger because he knew their tendency to forget God in times of prosperity. We must heed that same warning today.
“When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands… Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery… You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth…”
— Deuteronomy 8:10-18 (KJV)
We must remain humble and grateful, always acknowledging that it is God who has blessed us. Every achievement and blessing we experience comes from Him, and we should never let pride cause us to forget His goodness.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, may I never become proud or forgetful of all You have done for me. Keep me humble and always mindful of Your benefits. Amen.
