We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
– 1 John 1:3 (NIV)
In the beginning, God created mankind for His pleasure. He gave us the privilege of fellowship and communion with Him. However, man lost this fellowship as a result of the sin of Adam and Eve. The bad news was that there was nothing we could do to restore this fellowship, no matter how hard we tried. The good news, however, is that God took the initiative to reconcile us to Himself in Christ. We now have access to the Father through the sacrifice of the Son, and whoever receives the Son receives the privilege of fellowship with the Father. Glory to God.
Having been reconciled unto God with the privilege to commune with Him, we ought to cherish and honor this privilege. The way to commune with Him is through our private time in prayer, meditation, and Bible study. As believers, we must never neglect this fellowship. Imagine having a spouse that you never talk to or commune with. That relationship will not thrive. In the same way, if we must grow in our relationship with God, then we must take very seriously our communion with Him.
Today, you are encouraged to take advantage of this privilege of access and fellowship with the Lord in prayers. Isn’t it amazing that you don’t have to bring any animal sacrifice? All you need to do is fellowship with Him in spirit and truth.
So, through Christ’s sacrifice, we can now have fellowship with the Father by the Holy Spirit. This is such a great privilege. By His Spirit that dwells in us, we can now have fellowship with the Father in prayer. Now if you “seek” Him, you will “find” Him because He has made Himself accessible. Glory to His name.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
– 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV)
Prayer
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of having access to commune and fellowship with You.
