The Subject of Deliverance

” And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32 (KJV)

The topic of deliverance from fetish and diabolic powers has caused much confusion within the body of Christ, especially in Africa. Sadly, many believers are drawn to unscriptural practices rather than holding fast to the truth of God’s Word. But whenever we operate outside the light of Scripture, we are bound to struggle.

God’s Word brings light. Psalm 119:130 says, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” This means that to live without the illumination of God’s Word is to walk in darkness—regardless of the subject matter. When it comes to spiritual authority and deliverance, the Bible is clear: the believer is a new creation, born of the Spirit of God. The bible is clear that we have been delivered from the power of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of light. (Colossians 1:13)

This means you are no longer merely natural—you are now supernatural. As a new creation in Christ, you have authority over all demonic forces (Luke 10:19). This is not a future promise; it is your present reality in Christ. Please keep in mind that this article is concerning those who are truly saved. For the unsaved, there is need for deliverance.

Therefore, to live above the fear of fetish powers, you must retain a consciousness of your identity in Christ and act accordingly. This requires deliberate meditation on God’s Word and persistent prayer. This is why Paul prayed that the eyes of the Ephesian church’s understanding would be enlightened—to know the hope of God’s calling and the immeasurable power available to them (Ephesians 1:17–22).

We must reject the lies of the enemy. The moment you accept that you are still subject to “ancestral curses” or demonic oppression from your lineage, you open the door to deception. That idea is contrary to Scripture. God’s Word declares you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17); therefore, your responsibility is to enforce that truth in prayer, meditation and action. You are no longer defined by your natural bloodline—you now belong to the spiritual lineage of Christ.

Any belief contrary to this truth becomes a foothold for the devil. If a believer thinks they are still at the mercy of the devil, that belief itself becomes a weapon in Satan’s hand. Many are tormented today not because they lack deliverance, but because they lack knowledge of the truth.

You must dare to believe in the simplicity and power of God’s Word. Daily, pray that the eyes of your understanding be flooded with light. This is how faith is built—by aligning your mind with God’s reality and refusing to be conformed to fear of Satan.

Ultimately, it is the knowledge of the truth that makes the difference. If the devil sees you are ignorant of your authority, he will exploit it. No matter who prays for you, if your mind is not renewed, you may continue to suffer harassment. But when you know the truth, and act on it, you will walk in victory.

Renew your mind daily with the Word. As your convictions are grounded in Scripture, you will boldly enforce Christ’s authority wherever you go.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for what You have accomplished for me in Christ. I choose to walk in the light of Your Word. As I grow in understanding, I boldly put the devil under my feet, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
