Discipleship Devotional, June 23rd, 2025
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
— Isaiah 43:1b–2 (NIV)
One of the easiest ways to give place to the devil is by allowing fear to get into your heart. The devil’s power lies in deception and fear. If you refuse to be deceived and you give no place to fear in your life, the devil will not be able to succeed against you. This is why we must be unmovable and unshakable in our convictions from God’s word. The Word of God reveals to us the identity of Satan. We must not allow movies or stories to magnify him in our eyes.
Even if you see a scary spirit, that spirit still cannot hurt you until it inflicts fear into you. We must therefore make sure that even in the face of scary things, we stand firm with the Word of God. We have been assured that if we resist him, he will flee from us. Why then should a believer be the one running from him? Never allow yourself to be deceived by Satan. Hold fast to the Word. Hold fast to your position in Christ. Resist him; he has no choice but to flee.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
— Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
Make up your mind to put away fear from your life completely by building your trust in God and His Word. When you do this, you will not only stop being afraid of Satan, you will also put him on the run. He will flee from you.
Prayer
Thank You, Father, for what You have made me in Christ. Help me to put away fear from my life completely.
