Your Worth Before God

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
Romans 8:32 (KJV)

When we talk about redemption, we are speaking about being “bought back.” Before Christ came, our status was tragic. We were lost in sin and enslaved in bondage under the dominion of darkness due to the fall of Adam. We needed a redeemer to pay the debt we owed and release us from the power of the devil. This is what Christ Jesus our Lord accomplished for us. However, the fact that we needed redemption is not the focus of our devotional today. Rather, we want to focus on what was used to redeem us.

It is a fact that whatever currency one uses in paying for an item reveals the worth of that material. If you pay for something in Naira, you can understand the worth. If you pay in Dollars or in Pounds, you know it’s a different level of worth. These all reveal the worth of the item.

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV)

Wow! We were not redeemed by silver or gold, or dollars or pounds. We were redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. This reveals our worth. This reveals how valuable we are to God—so much so that He didn’t spare His own Son. We received redemption in His blood. Glory to Jesus. In fact, His blood didn’t only redeem us; it also provided us forgiveness of sins. His blood washed away our sins and purged us completely from all unrighteousness. Hallelujah.

I want you to know today that you are valuable to God. Yes, you. You are a pearl of great price. You are worth more than silver and gold; you are worth the very blood of Christ. So walk in this reality. Refuse to look down on yourself. Refuse to nurse low self-esteem. God values you.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help me to see my worth in Christ Jesus. Help me to see myself the way God sees me and help me to walk accordingly.
