“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
— James 1:5 (KJV)
One of the greatest blessings of the New Covenant is the privilege of direct access to God’s wisdom through Christ. In the Old Testament, only a select few operated with divine wisdom—people like Solomon, Joseph, and Daniel. But under the New Covenant, this privilege is open to every believer.
As our anchor scripture clearly states, if anyone lacks wisdom, they should simply ask God—and He will give it generously, without finding fault. There is no favoritism in the kingdom; God’s wisdom is available to all His children.
This is a privilege we must never take for granted. Whenever you face confusion, uncertainty, or difficult decisions, God invites you to come boldly and ask for His wisdom. You don’t have to stumble in darkness—God is eager to give you light.
The Apostle Paul models this beautifully in his prayer for the Ephesian church:
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
— Ephesians 1:17 (NIV)
Paul understood that wisdom is a spiritual resource vital for every believer. This is why we too must continually ask the Father for the Spirit of wisdom—not just for big decisions but for daily living, relationships, work, and ministry.
Proverbs reminds us of the protective power of wisdom:
“When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you.”
— Proverbs 2:10–11 (NKJV)
God’s wisdom doesn’t only guide—it preserves, protects, and empowers.
Another primary way we access God’s wisdom is through His Word. The Scriptures are filled with His counsel, direction, and principles for living. If we neglect the Word, we neglect wisdom itself.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”
— Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV)
Whenever you are uncertain—whether in relationships, career, finances, ministry, or personal decisions—ask. The Father gives wisdom generously to those who ask in faith.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the privilege of accessing Your wisdom. I ask today for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to guide me in every area of my life. Teach me through Your Word, and help me to walk in Your counsel daily. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
