“HOW GREAT THOU ART”

All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
Psalm 86:9-10 (KJV)

As believers, it is important that we keep in our mind and consciousness how great God is. Indeed, our minds cannot even fathom the half of this; however, when we begin to take time to contemplate this, first by searching His word, and then also searching His creation, we will be overwhelmed in worship and adoration. The Bible and creation are two powerful revelations that tell us about God. The scriptures testify that God’s creation can communicate to our minds His glory and splendor. In fact, it says that creation communicates to all in every language. King David said:

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
Psalm 19:1-4 (NIV)

The Apostle Paul also said in Romans chapter one that the invisible things of God are clearly seen in the things that He has made, making man without excuse. So, having established this, as believers, it is important that we study the Word of God faithfully but also ponder on creation to see how mighty our God is. It is a very healthy Christian practice for many reasons. One very important benefit is that it makes us more submissive in worship. When we contemplate the greatness of the One we serve, we are moved to reverent worship.

Another powerful reason for studying the greatness and vastness of God is that we become unafraid of adversity. When we know how mighty the One who is for us is, we can never fear anyone or anything that is against us. There are many more benefits of meditating on the greatness of God. Today, I urge you to think about His greatness and worship accordingly.

PRAYER
Thank you, Father, for communicating Yourself to us. Even though we are unable to fully grasp You, thank You for giving us minds that can at least contemplate You. Amen!
