“For we are labourers together with God…”
— 1 Corinthians 3:9 (KJV)
Just as children depend on their parents for everything, many believers are still dependent on others for their spiritual nourishment and direction. While there is a season for spiritual infancy, God’s desire is that we grow into maturity, where we can not only stand on our own but also take responsibility for others.
As we mature, our heavenly Father desires to entrust us with greater responsibilities. Rather than merely doing everything for us, God wants to work through us. This is why the apostles described themselves as “labourers together with God.”
“We then, as workers together with Him, also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.”
— 2 Corinthians 6:1 (NKJV)
This is a high calling — to partner with God in His divine plan. When we grow in faith, we step into this partnership, becoming His hands and feet on the earth. After Jesus’ ascension, the disciples went out to preach, and Scripture tells us that “the Lord worked with them, confirming the word with signs following” (Mark 16:20 KJV).
Today, God is still looking for mature believers who will allow Him to work through them to impact their families, communities, and nations. Don’t remain a spiritual child, grow in the Word, deepen your relationship with God, and take up the responsibilities He entrusts to you.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me to be Your co-worker. Help me grow into maturity so You can work through me to bless others and advance Your kingdom. Amen.
