“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Meditating on God’s Word is critical for victorious Christian living. It is not merely an activity for the early stages of our faith or just a way to “make it” in life. God’s Word is our very life and nourishment, and we are called to meditate on it day and night.
Even at the end of the Apostle Paul’s life, we see how seriously he took the study and meditation of the Scriptures. In his second letter to Timothy, after declaring that his life was already being poured out and that the time of his departure was near, he still requested something very telling:
“When you come, be sure to bring the coat I left with Carpus at Troas. Also bring my books, and especially my papers.”

How amazing that even in his final days, Paul longed for his books and study notes! This shows that meditating on God’s Word is a lifelong discipline — one we should never outgrow or retire from.
The Psalmist also paints a vivid picture of this life of continual meditation:
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.”

Like Paul, we must prioritize feeding our spirit with God’s Word at all stages of life. Go back to the notes you took in church. Study and meditate on the Scriptures, allowing them to shape your thoughts and actions daily.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to continually delight in Your Word and meditate on it day and night. Let it guide my decisions, strengthen my faith, and bear fruit in every season of my life. Amen.
