The Master Architect

Discipleship Devotional, February 2nd, 2025

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
– Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV)

We serve a God who loves us dearly and knows us more than we know ourselves. He understands our potentials and knows what will bring us true fulfillment. Often, we believe we comprehend ourselves, but we clearly don’t. One of the perks of serving a God who does exceedingly, abundantly above what we can ask or think is that we will not always understand what He is doing in the moment. This is why walking with Him requires faith. Scripture instructs us that we walk not by sight, but by faith.

Walking by faith, not by sight, means we don’t always perceive the full scope of God’s work. Nonetheless, He remains active in our lives. Our God is the ultimate architect. What He constructs in our lives surpasses human perception. Therefore, we must confidently surrender our lives into His care, following and trusting Him completely. Those who entrust their lives to God never regret it. What is stopping you from entrusting your life to Him?

King David’s counsel in the Psalms urges us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) We ought not to lean on our own understanding because our understanding is very limited. Every now and then, I realize how shortsighted my understanding is, and it makes me entrust my life to His own omniscient understanding.

The songwriter says:

My lifetime,
I will give God my lifetime
If I give God my lifetime
He will take care of me
He will never ever let me down
I will give God my lifetime

Prayer:

Help me, Lord, to continually look unto You. Help me in fixing my eyes on You, trusting in You even in difficult times, and also when things are going well.
