“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.”
— Psalm 34:15 (NIV)
The scriptures assure us that our God is attentive to our prayers and He watches over us. As believers, it is important to have such confidence and faith in God. There are people whose confidence is in the wealth of their parents or relatives, in the connections they have with men, or in the systems of this world. No matter how much of all these we have, we must build our faith in the one who can never fail. All these other things can fail, but only God cannot fail.
Therefore, the fact that we can be confident that God is watching over our lives is truly amazing. We ought to know that even in the valley of the shadow of death, He is watching over us to perform His will in our lives. The Apostle Peter quoted the same scripture, showing its great importance:
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their prayer…”
— 1 Peter 3:12 (NIV)
Regardless of your situation, our anchor text tells us that God is attentive to our prayers. When we cry out to God, He hears us. That’s a confidence we need every day. Never imagine that you are just speaking to the air. For some people, when they go through trials and they pray, they begin to question if God really exists. They begin to ask themselves, “What if I’m just speaking to myself and no one is there listening to me?” This is a lie from Satan to discourage you. Don’t stop praying. The Lord is attentive to our prayers. The only issue is that He is infinitely wiser than us and may have seen a better way to rescue you than the way you are expecting. Don’t be discouraged—He is watching over you.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to trust in You more and more daily. Help me never to give up. Help me to recognize that You watch over my life.
