“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”
— 2 Timothy 1:12-13 (NKJV)
In our anchor text, the Apostle Paul speaks of the sufferings and persecutions he had endured, yet he boldly declares his unwavering trust in God. He is convinced that God is able to keep what he has entrusted to Him until the end. What I want to highlight today is this powerful declaration: Paul says God is able to keep what he (Paul) has committed to Him (God). Paul pursued God’s will and plan, regardless of what happened to his life. He entrusted his life, will, and pursuits entirely into God’s hands—and left them there.
For many of us, the reason we haven’t completely surrendered our lives to God is that we are not yet fully convinced that He is able to keep us. For many, the reality of who God is and the depth of His love has not taken root in their consciousness. When they pray and make plans, God is not the constant factor. There are always backup plans—Plan B, Plan C—“just in case God doesn’t come through.” But we must come to a point where we place our lives fully on His altar, asking Him to do with us as He wills.
The truth is, until you truly surrender—without hidden motives or reservations—you will not begin to see God’s wise and beautiful plan unfold in your life. Whatever the situation may be, remember this: nothing spoils in His hands. Everything God does is beautiful and perfect. Let Him be the architect of your life. You do not know how to build it yourself. You must trust His infinite wisdom.
And just like the Apostle Paul in our anchor text, the presence of trials and tribulations should not change your perspective about the God who keeps you. Challenges are not a sign that you should take the wheel from Jesus. Let Him drive. Even if He leads you through the valley of the shadow of death, you have nothing to fear—because He is with you. Come to the place where you realize that Jesus is all you will ever need. And He is more than enough.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help me to entrust my life fully to the Lord. Help me to surrender every area of my life completely to Christ. Amen.
